Synopsis

  • This guide shows how schools can use a wildlife mascot, or a similar local native species, as a tool for student-led learning and action around wildlife, habitat, and environmental stewardship.

  • Students can create a schoolyard habitat, clean up litter, share mascot fun facts during morning announcements, design school T-shirts, and brainstorm everyday actions to protect local wildlife.

  • This guide also profiles popular mascots, including the bald eagle, mountain lion, grizzly bear, gray wolf, and great white shark, with fun facts and leadership traits for each.
